Step-by-Step Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, mix the melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and eggs. Stir in the flour and baking powder until smooth. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • While the brownie base cools, prepare the cheesecake layer. Beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and sour cream (if using) until smooth and creamy.
  • Once the brownie layer has cooled slightly, pour the cheesecake mixture over the brownie base. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Return the pan to the oven and bake at 325°F (160°C) for 35–40 minutes, or until the cheesecake is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  • Let the brownie cheesecake cool to room temperature before refrigerating for at least 4 hours or overnight. Serve chilled and enjoy!
